Represented by Lumiere Models in São Paulo, Victor Azzolini is one of my favorite boys from the crop of new faces that walked the runways of Rio and São Paulo this season.
ffw Mag!, my favorite Brazilian fashion magazine, just released its new issue, and it is all about Erotica. The cover is my favorite to hit Brazilian newsstands this year, and it features model Gracie Winck photographed by Cristiano Madureira.
If you are interested in learning more about the magazine, I have posted some of the editorial work from the issue on Made In Brazil. Make sure to check it out because the pictures from this particular issue are truly amazing (and sort of kinky as you would expect from the cover).
I have started doing a lot of research on Brazilian street artists recently since I basically only have one large wall to display art in my new place in São Paulo, and I want to make sure I use it wisely. Obviously most of the artwork I like is completely out of my price range, but still it can be appreciated.
Right now Wagner Pinto is on my list of artists worth saving for, and not just because he was brought up in Porto Alegre in the south of the country like me. His work is largely inspired by candomblé, indigenous elements, religious costumes and rituals, and folklore, and I love how vibrant and clean it looks. Make sure to check out more on his website.
Jean Paul Gaultier was one of the first designers to ever collaborate with Melissa back in 1982. Since then, the Brazilian brand of plastic shoes has worked with the likes of Mugler, Patrick Cox, Karim Rashid, Alexandre Herchcovitch, the Campana Brothers, and more recently Vivienne Westwood ,and Zaha Hadid. For spring 2010, Melissa and Gaultier teamed up again to prove that a pencil thin plastic heel can look pretty cool and sexy.
Melissa is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an exhibit in Santa Tereza in Rio, which opened to the public this week, and runs until November 15. Do not miss it of you are in Rio
If there is one thing Mario de Testino is really good at is getting Brazilians to take their clothes off, and there is no better proof of that than his new book MaRIO DE JANEIRO Testino. If you are doubting me, Taschen has now made the entire book
Love the cover of the latest issue of shot by Gui Paganini and styled by Paulo Martinez. It is probably my favorite Brazilian fashion magazine cover so far this year.
The main editorial of the issue features models and people of different races, ages, and sex, wearing the latest spring fashions from the Brazilian runways, and it is beyond stunning. I promise to find some time to scan some of the pages this month to share with you guys. If you are in Brazil, pick up a copy on newsstands asap.
Here is a new podcast to kick off the week this Tuesday with a very cool selection of songs put together by my bf over the long weekend (fyi, yesterday was Brazilian Independence Day).
Expect a podcast loaded with Brazilian music to be available for download this Friday, and make sure to subscribe to Made In Brazil podcasts on iTunes to check out all of our previous podcasts.
Video of the Butch spring 2010 men’s beachwear show at Fashion Rio: bowties, swimsuits covered in Swarovski crystals, patent leather sneakers, and neoprene leggings and tuxedo jackets.
The remix video for Madonna’s Celebration is available for free on iTunes for the next two days. Expect to see Madonna kissing Jesus, a cameo by Lola in the end, and Balmain execs very pleased with the choice of outfit.
